In 2024, Columbia canceled its university-wide commencement ceremony due to safety concerns regarding pro-Palestinian protests, The College Fix reported at the time. Instead, the New York university provided increased security for its Class Days and individual school ceremonies.

When demonstrators occupied the university’s main library on Wednesday, campus security forces intervened aggressively. The occupation ended with arrests hours later.

Though they’re nowhere near as prevalent as they were a year ago, some pro-Palestinian campus protests have resumed to recognize the one-year anniversary of the encampments.
