Firefighters and hikers fled for their lives as a huge wildfire engulfed dozens of buildings in the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon Lodge, the only lodging where people can sleep inside the natural wonder at the North Rim, was consumed by the flames, park rangers confirmed on Sunday.
A wildfire fanned by winds gusting to 40 miles per hour destroyed the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and surrounding cabins at Grand Canyon National Park, where the North Rim had been closed to the public since last week due to another fire.
