The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) is arguably the stock market's most important index. It tracks the 500 largest U.S. companies on the market, and it has become the benchmark for U.S. and international investors.

The market has been a wild roller coaster ride these past five years. As the longest-running bull market hit new highs in early 2020, the pandemic struck causing the Nasdaq 100 to lose more than a quarter of its value in a matter of weeks.

However, the Vanguard S&P 500 Growth ETF isn't the best performer in the Vanguard family so far in 2025. Instead, it's an ETF that doesn't own a single share in Nvidia, Meta, Amazon, Apple, or any other so-called "Magnificent Seven" stock. In fact, this Vanguard ETF doesn't hold any stock in the S&P 500.
