Thousands of Rhode Islanders are waking up without power on Tuesday, Feb. 24, following the record-setting Blizzard of 2026. Rhode Island Energy was able to cut the number of outages in half overnight, according to a press release from the company, restoring power to 30,000 customers.

Cape Cod was hit the hardest by power outages that are impacted over 250,000 customers. Restoration may take days.

These Cape Cod schools have already called a third snow day, as impacts from the blizzard continue to cause problems.

As of early morning on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 156,000 Eversource customers were reported without power on the Cape. The company reported that 80% of the Cape's three largest towns – Barnstable, Falmouth and Yarmouth – have no power, while 99-100% of Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans and Brewster have no power.
