Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas seemingly routinely sprinted down the line to try to beat the throw on a short ground ball in the second inning on Friday night. After touching the bag, he stumbled, falling to the ground. Moments later, he'd be on a stretcher heading for the hospital. An obviously scary situation for the Boston player.

Triston Casas had to be carted off the field on a stretcher after suffering a major injury to his left knee in the second inning.

Triston Casas’ season is almost certainly over. The Red Sox placed their first baseman on the 15-day injured list on Saturday, and in the coming days he’ll undergo surgery to repair the left patellar tendon rupture he suffered during Friday’s game.
